Cross country is a fall sport. Cross Country meets are conducted as part of the
High School and Junior High sports teams. Runners will compete against
other chartered schools in the greater Phoenix and Kingman areas through the
Charter Athletic
Association (CAA). The CAA lists the dates of the meets on
their website under the "tournament" tab.
Junior High and High School students can compete in this league.
The first meet is on September 6th, so please begin some
practicing right away by stretching and running if you are not
already doing so. Click here for some training tips and a sample practice schedule.
If you want to form a training group in your area, please email Coach Kevin with your
grade, name (first initial & last name) and what area you live in so we can see if
there are other students who would like to train with you.
Click here for a sample workout
schedule for distance runners.
The cost to compete is $5.00 per meet per student.
You must email me with your information if you are planning on
competing in any of the Cross Country events.
Students are responsible for training on their own. Students are encouraged to
find other AZVA students to train with if they can. Coach Kevin will
not be able to give individual training sessions.
Most of the events are held in the greater Phoenix area.
(There may be an event or two in the Kingman area). Transportation to and from events is the responsibility of the student
and his/her family.
